Replace Firebase Dynamic Links in your app
Google shut down Firebase Dynamic Links on 25 August 2025. Links on page.link addresses no longer work, and new ones cannot be made. This guide moves an app to Vela Links: links that open the right screen, still work for someone who installs the app first, and show which links brought people. It takes about ten minutes for one app.
On this page
- Know what stopped, and what cannot come back
- Write down what each old link did
- Create your app and add the SDK
- Make the new links
- Finish the platform setup
- Remove the old code and test
- Replace the old links where people see them
Questions people ask
Will my old page.link links work again?
No. Google owns those addresses and has stopped serving them. Replace them with new links.
Do I need Firebase to use Vela Links?
No, not for links. Only sending push notifications uses your own Firebase project, and that is optional.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. Create an app and use links on the free plan. The plans page shows what the paid plans add.
Does it work for someone who installs the app first?
Yes. The link goes to the store, and the first time the app opens it lands on the screen the link was meant for.
Which platforms are supported?
Flutter, Android, iOS and React Native.
